On April 6th, 2000 will start a new campaign for legalization of software, announced Mr. Valeri Sokolov, Director of Business Software Association for Bulgaria. The second wave of legalization will be completed jointly with Microsoft.

Microsoft staked on a new distributor in Bulgaria. The software company Microsoft authorised Polycomp company, a member of Stemo Holding, as a second distributor in our country. Till now the giant relied only on ACT Soft company. This step was made because of the second campaign for legalisation of the software which BSA and Microsoft undertook together on April 6th. Microsoft hopes the cooperation with Polycomp will be "long-lasting and beneficial", says Mr. Frank McKosskar, Director of the local office of the company.

The software industry has a loss of USD 11.2 million because of the pirates of software in Bulgaria, was reported from Business Software Association (BSA) and Association of the information industry. Members of BSA are ActSoft, Datex, NTCHS, Microsoft Bulgaria and ProSoft.

A project for construction of highly technological centers in Bulgaria may be included in the frames of the Stability pact. This became clear after the finishing press conference. The Stability Pact will take care South-Eastern Europe to be included in the initiative for expanding of the electronic nets for information, created at the conference of the countries from EU in Lisbon.

Two subsidiary companies of Microsoft are ready to start the production of programme products in Plovdiv, was stated by the Deputy Mayor of the town Mr. Nedialko Genchev. At the moment an evaluation is being made so the offer to be approved by the local Parliament at the first session after the vacation, which is appointed on September 14. If the production starts in Plovdiv, in the center for programme products will be appointed 80-100 IT specialists.

The National Securities Services and BSA made a testing purchase in Art System - Sliven. In the purchased PC are found installed illegal versions of Windows Millenium, MS Office 2000 and Flex Type 3.2. Against the company is initiated a case. On May 11 during an inspection in the shop of Art System in Sofia were taken 24 computer systems with a pirate software.
