| Chimimport JSC wants to get into business with duty-free trade. This emerges from a message to the Commission for Protection of Competition, in which Bulgarian Airways Group, part of the holding, announces that together with Switzerland-based Nuance Group creates a joint venture Nuance BG. Bulgarian regulator, however, for the first time in its history considers that it should not speak on whether the joint venture constitutes a concentration, and if so, whether it threatens to affect significantly competition in a local market. The reason is that the speed of both companies and associated companies exceed certain thresholds and transaction acquires so called community dimension and must be approved at European level. Swiss company specialized in the operation of duty free shops at airports and boutiques. The company website shows it operates in 17 countries and its products are available on board the aircraft. | Chimimport JSC reported consolidated profit of BGN 44.698 million as to September 30, according to a report release by the holding company. Compared to a year earlier it decreased by 17.02%. Only in the last three months, the company reported a consolidated profit of just over BGN 3 million. The total revenues of the holding company for the period January 1 to September 30 reached BGN 74.7 million, having decreased from BGN 88.35 million for the comparable period of 2012. The aggregate operating expenses also decreased, but at a slower pace, falling to BGN 26.38 million, against BGN 29.07 million. Holding owns 100% of CCB Group, Bulgarian Airways Group, Airport Services Bulgaria, Trans Intercar, Bulgarian Shipping Company, 99% of Port Lesport, 83 percent of the capital of Energoproekt, 67% of Plovdiv Stock Exchange, nearly 58% of Zarneni Hrani Bulgaria, by which it controls Oil and Gas Exploration and Production, etc. Source: profit.bg (29.10.2013) |
| Chimimport cooperates with Swissport on Sofia airport
Chimimports aviation department Bulgarian airways group enters business with ground handling of aircrafts at Sofia Airport. The company, which is part of Bulgaria Air bought minority shares in one of ground operators on the airport Swissport Bulgaria. The company is based in Switzerland and has operated on Sofia airport from 2007. The mother company has extensive experience in servicing air carriers and works in over 190 airports worldwide. In Bulgaria, though its activity has not been so prospering lately. It has lost most of its customers. Thus cooperation with a local player is a way for Swissport to regain its market positions. Under the procedure opinion on concentration in the deal is expected by anti-monopoly authority of the European commission. Swissport plans to keeps its majority stake in its Bulgarian subsidiary.
