The largest battery in Bulgaria was put into operation at the FPP "Razlog" Investors are increasingly boldly looking at batteries. The first such hybrid project was opened in Razlog. It is the largest energy storage battery in Bulgaria and one of the largest in Eastern Europe, located near the Razlog FPP. The facility has a capacity of 55 MWh, and once the batteries are charged, they can deliver current at full power for two hours. The facility is composed of 18 cells with a capacity of 3.44 MWh and 8 Kehua Tech transformers. The project in Razlog is owned by the company Investo Partners AD, whose sole owner is the Austrian Renalfa IPP. It is being developed - engineering, delivery and construction (EPC) - by the Bulgarian "Solarpro". The project is connected to a 110 kilovolt substation. FPP "Razlog" has a peak capacity of 33 MW and it signed the first PPA contract in Bulgaria - with the telecom operator A1 - a year and a half ago. The panels are that they have trackers, which allows them to move in relation to the solar radiation. This increases the production of the FEC by 15-20%. Phase 2 of the project, which includes another 50 MWh of batteries, is about to start soon. In reality, the next battery will copy the current one. With the expansion, it will become one of the largest in Europe. Renalfa's plans are to hybridize every single one of its projects, every single generating capacity. In Bulgaria, the next project with batteries will be at the "Vetrocom" wind park.
